Who We Are
Growing Smart Now and in the Future, led by The Edgewood Group, is a statewide initiative dedicated to transforming Louisiana’s food system by supporting local farmers, expanding access to fresh food, and promoting conservation-based agriculture. Through partnerships, training, outreach, and infrastructure development, the project empowers historically underserved producers, strengthens local economies, and fosters sustainable growth in both rural and urban communities.
This work is supported in part by the USDA’s Equity in Conservation Outreach Cooperative Agreements, which fund community-driven efforts that help historically underserved farmers access USDA resources, adopt climate-smart practices, explore agricultural careers, and lead sustainable change in their communities.
At its core, this initiative is about investing in people, land, and lasting impact — helping Louisiana grow smarter, healthier, and more connected, now and for generations to come.
